Opposites Early Learning Books : Night and Day

Night and Day

Fantastic introduction to opposites through art and colour - This book is brilliant- it will appeal to adults and children alike who want to see something a little bit different than your standard pre-school educational book. The opposites are sometimes quite hard to guess what they will be, which is a great point of discussion with your child. The colour and artwork is amazing, quite different and very bold with plenty of humour. This book has so much in it you can focus on different pages each time you read. It is definately an interactive book rather than a passive read but one my two-and-a-half year old just adores. We love this book in our household!

A beautiful book - enchanting to children and the reviewer - Children love to play with the holes in the pages - every page has one. Each hole reveals a tantalising little bit of the paired page - closed and open, full and empty. Night and Day is a big book - one session isn t always enough to get through it all. The writing is joined up, which is unusual but in my view a good early introduction to different styles. (In any event, the book lends itself to adult / child interaction and dialogue). Some of the concepts are quite difficult - abstract and concrete for example. Other paired concepts are mischievous, nice and naughty for example. The book is great for inquisitive kids and for grown ups who really want to engage with kids, rather than go through the motions of reading stories without engaging. We return to this book over and over again, I suspect that we shall learn and understand some of the harder pairs as we get older. It s been top of the charts in our household for several months already and seems to us to be superb value for money compared with other childrens books we see.
